Celebrate the summer by creating personal narratives and micro memoirs, writing family stories, and reaching out to the future with creative nonfiction.

Your workshop experience will include:

  • Writing narratives based on vintage family photos
  • Developing family-focused interview questions to explore and record family history details and intergenerational memories
  • Guided practice in conducting and recording family interviews in groups, and with individual family members of all ages
  • Examples, discussion, and real-time writing of family and friends Character Close Ups 
  • Reflection and discussion of family story writing goals and opportunities for collaborative writing of intergenerational stories

Bringing Family Stories to Life: Narrated Media, Interviews, and Character Close Ups, Virtual Writing Workshop

July 21 and July 28 (on Zoom from 7PM to 8PM Eastern Daylight Time)

Each workshop is a unique experience with two live sessions on Zoom, plus time in between sessions to expand and complete draft stories. These small group workshops (maximum of 16 participants) encourage story sharing and exploring new techniques with writing guidance from expert Write the World teachers.
